Papa Wright Day 4

Today we were introduced to the drum set.  Papa played for us and we could not believe that he could play with four drumsticks!!  Then we each got to play by ourselves.  Drums are awesome!
Tomorrow we have to bring in our own homemade instruments--make sure you don't forget!

Papa Wright Day 3

Today Papa taught us about melody in music.
He brought his marumba for us to play and introduced
us to African instruments
used for melody and percussion.
Perhaps the best part of our session was when Papa let us "smell" the goat toes instrument!  Ask your child about that. . .

Papa Wright Day 2

Today Papa introduced us to instruments used for sound effects.
We also had to guess the high and low sounds of instruments.
At the end of our session, Papa acted out The Three Billy Goats Gruff for us!

Papa Wright Day 1

We are SO excited to have Papa Wright with us all week.  Papa is a professional musician who has taught children about percussion instruments for years at Claymont. Today the children were introduced to the concepts of rhythm and sound effects.  They also learned the basics of music notes, learning how to compose simple rhythms using quarter notes and rests.
